1. Buying ridiculously overpriced "winter gloves" and finding out there utter crap a month after you buy them

2. Shelling out more money on cold killers to find out it made no difference...

3. Having to stop in a lay-by twice to heat hands on the exhaust after your fingers sieze up and you cant function the brake or clutch very well...

Grafting all week fixing a car for it's MOT, changing the insurance across so you can tax it once it's MOT'd, then finding your insurance company won't email OR fax a cover note...... :angryfire

Those auto-flush toilets in Schipol (the ones with the sensor on the wall). You lay what you think must be the biggest cable known to man and it's gone before you can turn round and admire it :anon

Don’t you just hate...
…when you exit the filling station shop, to see a wee bit of smoke emanating from your bike :jawdrop

Luckily it turned out to be mud and dead grass that collected on the exhaust :???

Oh the joy of riding thru an area of building works and choosing to ride over a grassy area instead of a muddy track :biggrin2

Don’t you just hate it, when first thing in the morning , a morning when it is still dark but the air temperature is just over 10 degrees C, you walk to your bike, put the key in the ignition, turn the key, watch the dials and light do their start up thing, pull the clutch in, push the start button and all you hear are the pleasant sound of pheasants in the distance :hippy

Ha, ha, no worries the brain says, must have hit he kill switch when walking the bike into the garage and locking it up :???
So, rock the kill switch to the live position
Pull in the clutch
Hit the button….

WTF… :??? :??? :???

Now those plucking pheasants are getting on your nerves, your back is getting sweaty because it is so feeeking hot :angryfire , and your rice burner is, well the feeeker is not burning rice that is for sure :??? :???

So, calm down, calm down, switch off the ignition, remover the key (like that will help) and repeat the process again

Still silence :??? , apart from those loving loud feathered vermin of the countryside who are probably doing what they do on the Discovery channel or having breakfast, the barstewards, lucky lucky barstewards

So, look at the bike, again, ohhhhh, maybe try this time when the clutch is pulled in and I will take the bike out of first gear this time….d'oh :oops , now there is the truly great early morning sound :biggrin2 of an engine happy doing what engine do on the "men and motors" channel, and none of that early morning disgusting messy stuff :nono

Welcome to the nanny state of biking.

The Tiger has exactly the same set-up. Neutral and clutch pulled in to start.

To be fair it is probably a good idea as the thought of dropping the clutch after starting while standing next to the bike doesn't bear thinking about.

Still I will now laugh and point at you :log :log :log

Haha! Even I wouldn't be so stupid... ;)

Having aid that; I geared up for the first time in 6 months yesterday. Struggled with my leathers for a bit, ran down stairs looking like an excited (yet failed) power ranger, opened the garage, pulled the bike out, chucked my lid on, grabbed my gloves, jumped on the bike, turned the key, pushed the starter & tick tick tick tick.

Dead battery. :(

I was seriously unamused... Took the car round only to realise that ze Germans like hiding batteries deep in the engine bay under hideous amounts of plastic so decided to push my bike to the top of a great big feck off hill for a bump start instead.

Got it going in the end & had a nice wee bimble out Deeside for an ice cream. :cool

That is commitment.

When bump starting a bike always consider the consequences of having to push it back up the big hill if it doesn't start.

Often the panzer cages have a positive terminal in an accessible location (like on the top of the engine) specifically for uses like this.

It may have a big red plastic cover !
