If you choose to run from the police, then you should expect a big slap.

I think it is incorrect that the judicial system and those politicians that control the police do not let the police chase the real criminals that steal motorbikes, then flee from the scene.
And if by chance those thieves get caught in criminal act, they seem to get a light sentence compared to road users that only break motoring laws.

pissy plod should get support from the public, but more importantly support from “the system” to let them do their job.

AFIK, it is plod who made the decision not to pursue motor cyclists who are not wearing crash helmet?

For sure, he is an idiot. A repeat offender who deserves to be punished. If you can't do the time, don't do the crime, but is 9 months in jail an appropriate sentence? Hardly seems fair to me, when compared to probation for beating up and robbing a pensioner.

I am sure this this was a decision they made for themselves. One has to be careful not to infringe on the rights of the criminal :nono

Remember the other week when a dog in Wales was deliberately hit with a police car.

I fully commend what the police did in the name of safety for other road users and the general good of the public.
Can you imagine the uproar if a vehicle tried to avoid that dog, then the vehicle collided with other vehicles or pedestrians ?

Bike thieves... I would give the police full authority to knock them off the bike, then reverse over the feckers just to make sure they can't run away.

Try standing in their shoes.

Imagine the you're the Dibble and you're chasing a thief on a motorcycle.

Imagine that he's dies as a result of you chasing him.

Now imagine the potential consequences for you.

Rules or no rules, that would surely have an affect on a decision not to chase.

Fair opinion.

I know a few coppers that are nice guys, and would never harm anyone/thing unless defending themselves or others.

I think that many neds do not contribute for the good of “the system” , many will never contribute to good of their neighbourhood (often the opposite).

I would round em up, put em in a field and bomb the barstewards.

Considering they like a chase, how about giving them over-sized boots and setting them off across the minefields in Cambodia. With a promise of some target practise for the local troops in 30 seconds to get them started.
You'd kill two birds with one stone. :)

oh god the clamour over that dog in wales....
I heard the report and on the lunch bulletin on BBC and the final words were that the 2 officers were dog owners and thus would not have taken that action lightly. Tells you all you need to know about that. Those poor fellas , the last resort had to be taken there, I fully understand that.

Sad reflection on our society that more attention is given to a run away dog than the homeless :hippy

Now if you run over (and do it properly that is) most of the people going to hospital, there would not be such a need for all those pesky doctors that are giving the government a hard time at the moment.

I am sure it could be blamed on the new Top Gear production bunch, as they get a hard time for everything else they do.
