Dave Will

Post by al » Tue Oct 30, 2018 7:31 pm

It is with great sadness that I have to inform you that our close friend Dave Will died suddenly at home on Friday morning.

Known to most of you just as "Dave", he practically lived on two wheels and loved everything with an engine.

He was a great friend and remarkable person who would go out of his way to talk to people and help others.

I am sure that you will want me on behalf of all of AberdeenBikers to pass on our heartfelt condolences to Dave’s family and friends and to offer any support that might be needed in this difficult time.

Thanks,

Big Kneed Al (master of the emergency stop & "stand up" comedian).

-------------------------

Dave’s funeral shall be at Baldarroch Crematorium at Crathes - Wednesday 7th November 1.00pm

Dave didn’t want black at his funeral unless it was bike leathers.

All biking friends are kindly invited to escort Dave from his home at Muir of Fowlis on his final “long way home” journey. Dave shall be leaving home at approximately 11.45 am.

There is a good long lenght of road between the Muir of Fowlis care home (AB33 8NU) and the access road to the house so we can line up along that and tag along behind the funeral cars as they go past.

Big Kneed Al (master of the emergency stop & "stand up" comedian).

Wow, that was unexpected, he was younger than me, not that that is too difficult but he was a nice guy who, as you say, made the effort to talk to people. We had a long lovely chat last year at John Clark's.

How dreadfully sad it is to hear this terrible news.

Having lived overseas for most of the time Dave has been a member I only got to meet him once in person, at The Alford motorcycle show in 2015. However, we have been a good friends through our regular contact on this forum.

He has been the busiest member on the forum for a longtime, always offering help, reviews, fun and giggles. Nothing was ever too much for him.

I was hoping to make his big bonfire night for the first time this year as it would have been an opportunity to get to know him better.

Dave was an extremely welcoming, valuable, generous and remarkable friend and he'll be sadly missed by us all. My sincere condolences to family and friends.

RIP Dave. We love you mate.

Dave has always been a prominent figure to me since I started out on two wheels (near a decade ago). I recently caught up with both Dave and Pip while out on the bike in Braemar where they had stopped off for a cuppa and a bite to eat, never one to resist a good yap about bikes we naturally got catching up as soon as we clocked each other.

Dave's life (as I knew it) was bikes, bike, bikes and everything related to them, a topic that came naturally to him as breathing.

He took me out on some of my first ride outs and handed down advice that will stay with me forever. A cheerful, gentile fellow, with all the time in the world to give for others. A true gentleman and as far as I am concerned a presence that will be a big loss to the Aberdeen biking community.

Devastated to hear the news of his untimely passing..pretty lost for the right words to say... :(

I may come back to write a more fitting goodbye, until then I would like to be kept updated of any further information so I can pay my respects where possible.

My sincere condolences to his nearest and dearest. Very sad news.

I would like to express my condolences to Pip and the boys for the sudden loss of Dave .

It was a complete shock hearing of his passing having recently spoken to him regarding work stuff in the middle of October. He was looking forward to Pips holiday, his bonfire evening , and catching up over Christmas .

Due to working abroad I am unable to attend Dave’s funeral but I will be thinking of all his family and friends .

Finally I will raise a glass to the passing of a true gent , motorcycling enthusiast and friend .

Truly sad news. Dave was one of the most positive, enthusiastic and friendly people I have ever met. I consider it a privilege to have known him and will treasure those memories.

Heartfelt condolences to Pip, the boys and the wider family. It is small comfort, but Dave was universally liked and widely respected. Taken early, he managed to fit more into each day than most manage in a week.

Sadly I am working away next week and won't be able to attend the service. However I will raise a glass.

Rest easy old friend.

Just a quick recap for those attending the funeral of Dave will.

Dave’s funeral shall be at Baldarroch Crematorium at Crathes - Wednesday 7th November 1.00pm

Dave shall be leaving the family home at approximately 11.45 am. so everyone who wishes to take part in the escort will need to be there in plenty of time so that we can have the bikes lined up and facing the correct direction ready to go. There is a good long length of road between the Muir of Fowlis care home (AB33 8NU) and the access road to the house so we can line up along that and the bikes can follow on behind the funeral cars as they go past.

Dave's son Connor has borrowed a 125 so that he can join the procession. Ian, Connor and myself will ride at the front of the pack behind the cars. The rest of the bikes will follow on in an orderly procession being mindful of each other and other road users. Don't worry if the group gets fragmented by other traffic and please do not take any risks to try and rejoin the main group.

When we get to the crematorium the cars will pull up near the entrance. The bikes can then ride past paying their respects as appropriate before parking up.

Big Kneed Al (master of the emergency stop & "stand up" comedian).

This is absolutely tragic, and a great shock.
As said, Dave was a real Gent, and I am saddened that I only heard the sad news too late to attend the funeral. RIP Dave.

It was nice to see so many people attending the ceremony. The place was packed out the door and there was a great turn out of bikes too. Very fitting for a nice chap who clearly made a big impact with lot's of people.

Rest in peace chap.

Hi everyone, i've not been on in a good while..... life does get in the way somewhat!

Thanks for the kind words about my brother Dave, as much as i wouldn't believed those kind of words about him when i was a young kid, as we both got older i found all those words are actually all true and so much more :log

A big thank you to Big Kneed Al (master of the emergency stop & "stand up" comedian) for organising the bikes on Dave's final long way home, it was a humbling sight in my bike mirrors to see the lights stretch out in the heavy rain. Dave would have appreciated the plethora of different bikes.

It was a pleasure reading Big Kneed Al (master of the emergency stop & "stand up" comedian)'s recollections of Dave out at his celebration of life and also hearing his work colleagues and friend Oli's anecdotes.

I wouldn't have been able to recite any of my own for falling apart as i did during the end of the poem I read at the Cremmy...... Dave would have called me a soppy tw@t for spoiling such a nice poem :log :log :log

I've got some cracking stories to share over a pint or some fish & chips 150 miles from home sometime. :cheers

Also a huge thanks to those that donated towards the £1300+ that was raised in aid of Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland and NERVs :2up

We have told our 4 year old Son that his Uncle David has gone over the rainbow with the angels, his first comment was if there would be bonfires & fireworks at his house any more ......

Ride Safe and hope to see you on 2 wheels sometime soon :2up
