Tyrone rider dies in race crash

Andrew Neill, who was killed in practice at the Walderstown road races
A Northern Ireland motorcycle rider, Andrew Neill, has been killed in a racing event in the Irish Republic.

Mr Neill died during a controlled practice ride for the 125cc event at the Walderstown course in Athlone.

It is understood Mr Neill, from New Mills in County Tyrone, was killed when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a tree at about 1230 BST.

Mr Neill was a well known rider on the Irish road racing scene and competed in his first Isle of Man TT in June.

Andrew had just competed on the Skerries road racing the previous weekend with a batch of good results over many classes.
Andrew Neill finished in 4th place on Saturdays 600cc race on the 2.9 mile road circuit.
125 4th
250 2nd
open 8th
Grand final 6th

Very sad that another talented rider has lost their life during the road racing season. :(
