Strange name for a cafe, but excellent fare at reasonable prices. The owner made a point of coming for a chat telling me that bikers are very welcome :P

I do not think there ever was a fire station in Tomintoul, I believe the owner used to be a fireman. Not a bad lad in spite of being English.

I guess you are right Mal :roll

I spent a weekend in Kinloch Rannoch a few years ago , there is a big Hotel there that is a burnt out shell , it's literally 100 yards from the fire station , the former owner was a part time fireman and he had taken all the other firemen "away" for the weekend and a "mysterious" fire occurred , alegedly the insurer refused to pay up :roll
