Hi folks,
I'm new to this, currently riding a YBR 125 on a CBT and hopefully going to sit my big bike test soon (weather dependent) and need some advice and tips on bikes which could fit my mere 5'1/2" height. Any suggestions would be appreciated, cheers

I've heard of people lowering bikes like the ER6 and Street Triple. I ride a Street and it's quite a small bike - I can flat foot, but I'm 5"9-5"10. Best thing to do is pop into Shirlaws & Ecosse and see what feels right and if they've any advice. Sit on a few bikes and see how they feel.

Remember that lowering kits can be bought for many of the popular bikes that would otherwise be out of your reach.

It pays to lower the bike properly (front and back) to prevent destroying the bikes geometry however it isn't an expensive job and it would allow you to ride pretty much any bike you like! :cool

I agree with Yareks statement that the Kwak ER6 and Street Triple! (Both of which lower well without losing much if any aesthetics)

Another consideration might be a Ducati Monster or Suzuki Bandit?! What type of bikes have you got your eyes on at the moment?? (Sports, tourers, naked, cruisers, uprights etc.)

The main peice of advice to repeat whats already been said is to sit on as much bikes as possible and see what ticks all the right boxes in terms confort...noise up the dealers, it’s all to common a question to them and they will soon advise you on the better suited bikes available.

Let us know how you get on!

A friend of mine has a lowered ER6F and she loves it to bits, shes still a bit on her toes (I think) but manages really well. I'm sure she'll post up soon.

If you can, then I would avoid having to lower a bike as it will compromise the suspension setup and potentially the steering geometry.

Better to modify the seat and learn to slide your arse off the left hand side of the bike when coming to a stop covering the back brake and get your left toes down like the Motocross folk do.

There's also a ladies boot by Daytona with a raised insole. Worked a treat for my 5ft lass :2up
