Chain tightening with bobbins

Post by Lobsterfish »

I need to tighten my chain for the first time on the new bike. I have a little issue though. I got these type of crash bungs/spindle sliders fitted http://www.rg-racing.com/browseType/Cot ... 017BK.aspx and now have no idea of the best way to tighten it evenly. Do I have to take to bobbins off each time and if so, how do I do that?

S is away picking me up a chain alighment tool, so I suppose that is a start.

Advice and help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Can't really see much from the photo in relation to the axle nut, the adjusters themselves are certainly clear. If you're struggling give me a shout, I'll be in for the rest of the afternoon.

If the bike is on the Padock stand by the bobbins slacken the axle nut and then the axle will be pushed back by the adjuster bolts. To tighten the chain will only take maybe 1/2 turn on the adjuster bolts (depending how slack the chain is now). Torque up the axle nut to correct torque.
Remember to keep about 1" of movement in the chain. (check at bottom of chain betwen front and back sprockets).
