ZZR1100D1 cutting out

Post by Cossackmannie »

The bike started to act like it was running onto reserve, so switched over to reserve- no change, pulled in to side of road.Turned up the idle a bit and nursed it home.
Starts fine, just won't take any load on throttle.
Thought- "Fuel starvation". Nope! Plenty fuel.
" "Blocked fuel filter" Nope! Clear.
" "Fuel pump" Nope! tested and working fine.
" "Coils" Nope! Swapped over to a known working set
" "Carbs" Possibly?

What I need to know is this- is there anything else might be worth checking before removing the carbs for checking/cleaning?

Cheers in advance

Think you might be on the right track re the carbs. My old ZZR developed a similar fault - twist the throttle and the bike hesitates, splutters a bit and slows down. It would start relatively easily but as soon as you put a load on the engine the power falls away.

Had a mate do the honours on the carb clean up and it was fine.

Seems to point towards fueling fault. Looks like I'll be removing the carbs for cleaning tomorrow :(
