Hein Gericke

Got a heated vest the other day from Hein Gericke, made by Keis

The initial thoughts are great...and why did I not get one years ago

It had my thinking of heated grips...once you start to use then, it is hard to think of running a bike in cold wet weather without them.

The Vest has three settings, had it on medium last night and it was about right.
This was riding thru a little bit if sleet and a lot of snow.

Yesterday morning I had it on low, it was plenty warm enough thru the cold (-2 deg C), but it was dry.

The vest had a lead which hard wires into the bike, with a quick connector to attach to the vest.

I got a lead to run off the aux power outlet, which doesn’t look the best, but is a quick easy way to start using the vest.

If you get one, make sure you leave enough slack in the lead in case you stand up on the pegs.
Luckily I had the slack tucked under my tank bag adapter which is fixed to my bike, so when I stood up to go over a bit of rough ground, it just pulled out easily.
That was luck, as I just connected the electrical lead when I was sitting on the bike, not thinking of when I stand on the pegs. :P

One of the great things about getting the aux lead is, it also fits into a cigar/cigarette lighter, so I can use this vest in the old Landrover...great...but I think I will get grief from the misses when I am sitting there all toasty hot for the first 100 or so miles until the Landie heater gets working :log :log :log

I have heard good things about the Keis heated clothing.

I think you can also get a rechargable battery for the kit.

There were are a few bits and pieces in the shop

As always, trying the kit on is always a good move

Batteries, you have me thinking there...plug the vest into the bike on the way to Knockhill , then plug in the batteries when there...as it is always frezzzzing there...especially in summer :( :log :log

A heat wave at Knockhill is -40 centigrade or farenheit, take your pick!

the only heat wave at knockhill is when you take the lid off the coffee cup

Ah yes - cafe coffee where the water comes out of the boiler thing at about a billion degrees, and it never seems to cool down quickly enough, so you burn your face off trying to finish it so you dont hold everyone up (or is that just me :confused )
