Right this is going to come out like a tard but its worth checking the simple things as it can catch you out.
I have a tech7 top box that comes with a fitting for plates, it says its universal but I guess it means its universal for sport racks only not top box racks like a givi monolock.
This may seem a daft question but I want to be sure before I wax £70 on a sport rack

Givi make 2 sorts of fittings ...
Mono key and Mono lock
They produce universal mounting plates for both types of box .
A universal plate will be used to fit the box to a sports rack. or and in the case on the mille a converted pillion seat.
The GIVI universal probably will not fit another type of box.
