Had to double take a beemer this morning on North Anderson Drive, had a reflective bib on, with POLITE in big letters on the back (no doubt who he was aiming to be!) and the black and while chequer stripes !
Why ???
OK, so who is the POLITE biker !

I have the same view of it, fair enough if you want to be seen. But then what's wrong with a standard hi-vis jacket? And car drivers won't think you're being a knob with a standard one as well

Would it not be that at a quick glance people think it is POLICE.

each to their own regarding hi viz,... i suppose i don't do myself any favours dressed head to toe in black, (other than the perception that i "think" i look cool
) but then again my vfr is bright yellow.
I suppose i have no opinion really, i guess it is a bit wanky really, how much is the polite and the chequers bit really noticed ...who knows.
His commentary is ace though...
