Daytona 900 / Scottoiler Screw UP. Help!

Post by cruach »

I spent the day fitting a Scottoiler to my 1996 Triumph Daytona 900. The bike has Mikuni carbs and I when fitting the scottoiler damper assembly over the spigot for the vaccuum I broke the spigot off. :oops
I glued it back on with the superglue Scottoiler supplied, but now when I start the bike it conks out when I turn the choke off. :oops

It may be I haven't warmed up the engine enough, but I suspect not. I suspect the carb is drawing air through the broken spigot. :knob

Is there any (preferably black) sealant I could use to seal round the base of the spigot?

I know I'll have to buy a whole set of carbs to replace the broken part. Too pricey!

Thanks for any advice.

Give it a good clean, thoroughly dry it and seal it up with Araldite.

Just make sure none of the araldite goes into the carbs through the whole that used to be the spigot, that wil give no end of trouble :(
