I know. Why can't the parents just flick the On/Off switch on them? Oh hold on

Maybe you, Bydand and Lynners should start up Parent Teaching courses.
Children make a noise. If you don't like it, dig deeper and go to a more respectable restaurant.

Children should be seen and not heard....bad behavour in public is a reflection on the parents.
Children are the future, but they are not in charge today

Making a noise is not bad behavior, It's childrens behavior.
It's a way in which children express themselves.
As I said, if you don't like the sound of children, don't go to family restaurants.
How dificult can it be?

Yes it is.
I do agree that children friendly places will be noisy and in those places children should be free to express themselves.
However this does not include supermarkets, shops and restaurants with a mixed clientel.

Thanks meepmeep, I patiently await your comprehensive list of restaurants that don't let kids in... seeing as it's so easy I'm sure it won't take you long.

Nobody said anything about Kid Free restaurants.
Ok, so you obviously do not eat out much? Or if you do, you frequent such gastro luminaries as the Tippin' Hatter, Ghillies Lair, dare i say it, Shepherds Rest and the likes.
As I have said, dig a bit deeper and go to a better class of restaurant. There will be less children, I guarantee it.
If you need some pointers just PM me and i'll be happy to give you a few recommended places.

I completely avoid those tacky places you mentioned after being taken there once and experiencing possibly the worst atmosphere in a "restaurant" ever.
Parents should take eating out as an opportunity to teach their children better manners, and to behave more appropriately. Playgrounds are for screaming/shouting/running around type of fun, restaurants are not.

Welcome to Victorian England

Get the stick out yer @rse boy.
Restaurants are for family meals with possibly a childrens play area/theme etc. Expect these to be busy and some what noisy.
Dining is for grown ups to sit and have a quiet intimate meal. Expect these to be quiet and unhurried.
Although money does not = class and some of these fine diners will be frequented by the 'offshore' type

and may become noisy.
But we aren't all the same and parenthood has made me alot more tolerant.
As I have said,
if you don't like the childrens noise then do not go to family restaurants.
. Very, very simple.
Bydand, lynners, where did you have this terrible racket of children?

Broadstraik Elrick, fancied a wee munch before going to get my shopping.
Kids making a noise fine, kids screaming and screaming and screaming and their parents just ignoring them
Ignorant, if you can't control your kids leave them in a cage at home. It's selfish

Absolutely. It's one of the major problems of modern society - lack of consideration for other people.

People without kids telling people with kids how best to bring them up
One big problem with this country is that people do not have time for kids, without taking them to social events and dining out how are they supposed to learn how to behave in company and without seeing people eating and drinking responsibly how do they know what is and isn't acceptable
There are of course exceptions to the rules and some people just shouldn't be parents.
But if you really don't like kids you have alot more choices of places to dine than someone with kids
