I am truely gutted by this, I dont normally get too upset when these things happen but he was such a true racer. Ive not seen it and dont want to TBH. Such a young guy as the other tragic thing is the two guys that hit him are probably the two nicest guys in the paddock. I can see Rossi probably considering quitting as a result of this.

A tragic and horrendous accident.

Kudos to the cameraman for keeping focused on Edwards, it was immediately obvious from the helmet coming off that it was very serious. Only a week after Dan Wheldons horrific Indycar accident as well.

Re- Rossi quitting.
That was my thoughts exactly. Nobody knows what's going through Rossi's head right now but I'd imagine he's thought about what he's won, how old he is and suchlike. Nobody would call him a quitter if he announced his retirement after this although, I think he'd wait till after the season was over as a show of respect.

Marco, you made MotoGP a far more exciting and interesting place. RIP.

RIP Marco.
He was showing great promise. Definately one of the sport's more flamboyant characters. He made Moto GP exiting to watch again. :worthy

www.crash.net
Valentino Rossi has rubbished suggestions that he will quit racing in the wake of Marco Simoncelli's tragic death during the Malaysian Grand Prix.

A close friend of Simoncelli's, Rossi was unavoidably involved in the incident that killed the Italian, sparking speculation that he would consider walking away from the sport.

However, following Davide Brivio's declaration that Rossi will not retire, the man himself, speaking briefly to reporters on his return to Italy, quashed rumours that he will not race again.

“Quit? I do not know who said it, but it wasn't me … Maybe it was to sell more newspapers.

“Marco was great. We shared so many memories, we used to meet almost every day, we'd train together and we'd race against each with any type of machine that had an engine.”

Some nice words from the riders, but the photo of the track covered in rubbish after the race got cancelled is pretty disgusting.

Do they really have to show graphic photos like that, there is absolutely no need.

Personally I hope they cancel the GP at Sepang. Even though it's one of the few that's close enough for me to go to. The reaction of the so called 'supporters' was disgusting. I doubt similar scenes would have happened in the UK. I was at Brands Hatch when Craig Jones was killed in a similar type of crash in 2008. The crowd never complained at all.

have to agree as that one in the article had no real place, the behind shot was perfectly adequate, just ghoulish printing the front view

Found this video, seems the local Paramedic and Marshals were nothing short of incompetent.
Dragging an already injured Simo off the track like a piece of meat, but they go and drop him.
This is F""king ridiculous.

Sic's dad commented on that actual event (Marco being dropped by the marshals) , as he arrived on a scooter at the scene of the crash & said that it was already to late to help Sic even though they tried for 45 minutes to get him back. He said that everyone was in such shock with the crash & that dropping him would have made no difference to the outcome of the situation, he was just comforted by the amount of people who jumped into action & wanted to help, so to him the situation is void.

I guess i understand what he is saying; it is enough to deal with without causing an even bigger fuss over something that really was not great but did no harm! They did the same last year with the other racer who died & all the fuss about the marshals dropping him kind of took over from the actual sad event itself.

I think Sic should be honoured & remembered for the fab racer he was & the investigations that are to be carried out should be done so in quiet, as the event is tragic without adding fuel to the fire. As Sic himself would not have thought anything of it had he seen this happen to someone else nor would he of held it against anyone, as he always said “that’s Racing”.

RIP SIC. Gone but NEVER forgotten.
