iv been offered a set of carbs apparently rejetted and set up for racing . was told id get an extra 8bhp out of the bike .its for the fzr 600he said they haven't been used. the guy told me to make him an offer .As i know very little about these sort of things what would be a sensible offer. they are old but unused. im not going to race the bike myself but the power gain would be nice I can't believe it's not butter!. can anyone advise .much thanks .

No use to you unless you flow the head and use a full system. They will just pour in too much fuel and the bike will not run right if at all, you would have to rejet them and probably end up on a Dyno to get it set up correctly.
Pass dude.

You could be rite there Backs 400 , i do need help to improve my riding and stop being such a coward on cornering.

Im just going to leave the carbs, once built ill be going from a gs500 to the fzr 600 ,the change will be exiting enough for a novice like me. but anyway , thanks very much for the advice

Relating to your other thread, if you can get these very cheap, 20 quid say it may be worth your while, if they have been set up properly then all you would have to do id fit the correct main jets and needles, it would then be a much easier job to set them up as they will not have any air leaks due to shaft wear, which is probably what you have with the old set you are working on at the moment, also the float hight will have been set on the new ones, which you can check when you change the jets back to standard. (also by doing this you can verify that they are clean inside and that there is no gunk plugging things up.) Very handy to know for a
fact when setting up carbs.
Once these checks and changes are done, set the mixture screws as per the book, fit the carbs to the bike and take it to a dealer to set up properly should only cost an hours labour 40 odd quid, by far the best way.
