which tyres would you guys and gals recommend for zx6r f2 (road tyres)and what sort of price should i expect to pay . found this site , seems to resonable .

the ones i would go for is
Dunlop D208RR
Michelin Pilot Power
Supercorsa Pro

and thats my choice

Go to Sillets,
Look Vacant (Works for me)
Rab fits new tyres
Bev takes yer money
Rab warns you about scrubbing in the tyres.
Job done.

Are you talking about the tyres or bevs.

Should be going to Sillets the morn to get a new front tyre. Has been highly recommended by many people so should be a nice fast and efficient service.

As for the tyre choice........ ?

Aye aye, that's your discount up the swannee . . . . :I can't believe it's not butter!

He will know by the state of your present tyres how hard you ride the bike.

Theres no point buying the softest, race orientated tyres if:
1. Your not a nutter on 'the road'.
2. Your not upto the job of getting real heat into them,as they will be outside there designed operating temperature.
3. Waste of money if you don't need race tyres as they will be worn out quick.

You can't go wrong with top brand tyres, Michelin, Pirelli, Bridgestone, Dunlop etc.

You'll probably find Sillets cheaper by the time you add on delivery and fitting if buying tyres on-line.

Yep no use spending money on the softest ,sticky tyres you can find as they require hard riding to get up to temperature ,fast road tyres heat up quicker at slower speeds

Metzler Roadtec...the "Road" bit gives it away :) Excellent wet weather grip but also more than cabable of fast road use.

The Racetec is..well..for racing

Pirelli Strada's Good in the wet and more than capable of handling being pushed a bit on the Gixxer 750, Good mileage from them too, looking at 5k+

Pirelli Diablo's are a very good tyre as well though the Strada is better in the wet and longer lived.

As a ruse of thumb your usually talking around the £200 mark (slighly more/slightly less depending on the tyres) for a pair of tyres for a 600 sports bike.

Michelin Pilot Road 2 will do everything you'll want it to do and still get at least 5k miles from the rear. I even did a trackday at Knockhill on them when I had my VFR. I also have them on my CBR600.

Those prices are ok, but you've still to pay to get them fitted.

I have a set of road 2's on the (dead) VTR and they perform very well under pretty much any conditions. . .

Grip well in the wet and heat up nice and fast for carving in the dry!

Highly recommended!

Road and race tech tyres are also very good as mentioned above!
Used them numerous times and never had any problems. . .

Another option would be the newish battle-axes (Bridgestone BT-021) High mileage sticky road tyre! Would be perfect for the 6R. . .

i also have road 2 on my bus , no complaints fitted 13th april last year and still on the bike ,and thats about ten thou miles all weathers , would recommend them mate

You'll probably have gathered from the posts above that tyres are a very subjective thing so it really comes down to what tyres Rob has on the day, what his recomendation might be, the price, and any previous experience you have of a particular type of tyre. Until you have tried out a few different types it will be difficult to judge for your self so, for me, a lot of the time it comes down to cost.

how TF do you get 5 - 10k out of a back tyre?
Best I got was 3k and that was a dual compound jobbie. normally 1500-2k and the back was goosed.
I couldn't get more than 5k out of a front tyre (averaged 3 and a bit k on the front)

I only got 2k Miles out of the standard rear tyre that was fitted to my XT!

One of those examples can be explained by torque eating a tyre, the other by being a hooligan...
