Just got my bro to respray tank and plastics and things are looking good. The problem is that the lacquer is taking ages to cure. I've had tank and plastics in the hoose for nearly 2 weeks now and although the paint is dry to the touch it's still possible to leave marks on the surface when handling the parts. Any suggestions on how to speed up the drying process? I've no idea what type of paint was used or how long he left between coats.

Wouldnt you be best to ask your brother

the only way is not dry properly is that there is not enough hardner in the lacquer. you my have to get it done again

Two pack paint or the lacquer used on water based paints require curing in an oven/spray booth...

two pack paint comes with the hardener (the second pack of the two pack) this does not need oven cured but as has been said if the mix has not had enough of the hardener it will take a very long time to fully cure without being baked.

Try taking the tank to a spray shop and asking for their opinion possibly try getting them to bung it in their oven they can only say no

Cheers for the advice. Tank lacquered with standard automotive cellulose, but given about 5 coats so will take ages to dry. Bits now in friends nice, warm airing cupboard for at least a week- that should do the trick.
