If your chain is really rusty (which it is!) you'll be better grinding it off rather than trying to remove the old link!

Even if you are using my kit you should be grinding the head off the pin at one side and only then using the kit to push the pin out!!

Plan was to grind it off
Dont want to take any chances not using the right tools to put the new one on

In case you can't get what your looking for .....

I'm changing chains all the time (race bike) ...... I use a grinder to get the old one off
and use 2 hammers (one with a ball peen) to put the new one on.
Never had a problem and to be honest I prefer to do it this way than use one of them there tools.
