FirePlace Tyres

Hi,

Are any of you guys running a 08 FirePlace?

I have just bought a new one which I'm picking up next week and it comes fitted with Dunlop Qualifiers :-(

Never ridden these tyres and frankly wouldn't out of choice so would appreciate hearing from anyone who's on other rubber on the 08 Gay Blade which they have experience of on our Scottish roads.

Plenty of opinion on tyres for the Gay Blade on the net (usually favouring the Michelin 2CT or the Bridgestone BT016) but these are mainly from bikers in the states and Australia - a bit of local use and knowledge goes a long way me thinks.

Anyway, be glad to hear from you if you have any first hand experience or views on this.

Cheers

Nowt wrong with Qualifiers. "Jbrebel" runs Diablo III's on his 08 Gay Blade and likes em.

Used qualifier RR's on an 07 R1. They were excellent.Have heard standard qualifiers aint so good. Gotta go with the flow,
2CT's and Corsa 3's are both excellent.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your replies - much appreciated.

With your valued comments and those I've picked up from surfing the net, the 2CT's certainly seem to just get the majority vote for the Gay Blade (or other 1 litre supersports) along with good reviews from guys using the Corsa 3's and in some cases the relatively new BT016. All pretty much in the same league by the look of things.

All very subjective I know and down to personal taste, type of bike, riding style etc. etc. - probably won't go far wrong with any of the above.

Will let you know which one I go for and how it performs.

By the way, will have a brand new set of Qualifiers up for grabs next week at a very reasonable price if anyone is interested :-)

Cheers

Corsa3's every time :2up

I have tried a fair few tyre makes etc but keep coming back to these. Excellent road holding/rate of turn and do their job v.well letting you focus on riding.

I get about 3k from a rear and double that from the front no matter how hard I ride which is pretty good in my books.

I also like the corsa 3s ( have them on my 600)
but I think that I will be going for a set of 2cts for the Aprilia as the next set of tyres. mainly due to the recomendation of the folks from the board ( and having had a shot of an R1 with them on.)

Get rid of them asap they are just crap..........................
either stick on 2ct or corsa III the Gay Blade is a torque beast and can just chew up a tyre in less than 600 miles ...... :eek

you need duel compound tyres for her and the Dunlop that is fitted take ages to heat up and cool down very fast. they arent called Japenese mahogany for nothing ;)

After all its only a HONDA

Hi,

Thanks again to all you folks who have posted a reply, it's been really helpful.

Yep Bydand, same thinking as me when it comes to the Dunlop. Won't even be coming out of the showroom with them on :-)

I've ridden on Michelin a fair bit over the years plus a Pirelli or several (on older blades and other bikes) and the 600rr 07 I'm trading in has been on the BT016 rear (015 front) for a while and I would certainly recommend it to anyone with a 600 - very good tyre, grip, feedback, stability is top notch and the three compound works well. Have toyed with the idea of going with the BT016 all round for the Gay Blade - just not enough mid/long term reports on them from riders to know how well they would cope with the extra torque of the Gay Blade.

Thanks again guys.

Cheers
