Durness to Blairgowrie – what is the best direct route

Durness to Blairgowrie – what is the best direct route :confused

Soon I will be travelling from Durness to Blairgowrie, then returning back up the Durness in the evening.

The Inverness to Blairgowrie section looks straighforward.

But there looks like a few options for the Inverness to Durness leg

I am sure some of you lot are familiar with the roads north west of inverness

I am looking for the easy roads, not the ones with the best scenery.

What is the best route ?

A google map link would be good.

Cheers

Used to live up in Thurso.

For me from Inverness go to Bonar Bridge, then Lairg, then a choice either up the strath to Tounge, then via Loch Eriboll to Durness. Or from Lairg up side of Loch Shin to Laxford Bridge then Durness.

Me - I would go up one route, then return the other to make it a bit more intertesing.
Whatever yo do keep an eye on the fuel gauge not too many fuel stops.

Either road North of Lairg is a somewhat amazing desolation and watch for the sheep!!
