Can anyone explain, in LOTS of detail, how to go about changing the fork seals on a Yam TDR125. I've been told I 'just' need to whip the wheel out, undo a couple of nuts and bolts and hey presto. Not as easy as it seems. I need a step by step guide.....and no, I Isn't got a hand book!
Replacing fork seals is not a job for an amatuer , even if you manage not to lose a finger re-compressing the springs (ask Big Kneed Al (master of the emergency stop & "stand up" comedian) ) unless you do the job right the chances of the new seals splitting again very soon is quite high.
Take the bike , or remove the forks and take them to a dealer and get the job done properly.
Removing the forks is quite easy if you have a decent tookit (not the one that came with the bike) if you want to know how to do that let me know. :I can't believe it's not butter!
Unless somebody just happens to have the right book and a scanner, looks like you'll have to get one. Haynes manuals are pretty basic and cheaper than the labour costs to have them fitted for you.
Alternatively talk to someone who knows how in the presence of the bike and get them to show you what to do.
Writing it all down would take far too long (for me at least).
Any volunteers to show Bikerchick how to strip down her forks?
I think you should invest in a Haynes manual. If anyone has a go at telling you how to do it and then it goes tits-up (pardon the pun )..........Well, you see what I'm getting at.

take it to breaking point... for all the time it'll take it will almost be the same price as buying a manual.... or the amount of time you will have to log on to the net to get everyone's responses.....
could always use a nut splitter if you get stuck..... ouch!
I'd go along with Rustik...Cost me £45 to get the seals done on the ZXR, and being USD forks its a bit more of a bugger to do them. I think my mate was charged about £30 for his Trophy 900 ones.
Thats suppying and fitting by the way.
They also did Renthal Sprokets and gold X-ring DID chain for me at £89 fitted.
