MotoGP World Championship leader Jorge Lorenzo has spoken of his respect for TT racers, and his thoughts on experiencing the legendary Mountain circuit for the first time.

The Fiat Yamaha rider is due to lap the TT course ahead of the Senior TT on June 11, alongside Grand Prix great and fellow Spaniard Angel Nieto.

Speaking in the latest edition of the TT Newsletter Lorenzo says:

“I’m very glad to have the opportunity to be at the TT this year and ride the Yamaha R1 together with Angel.”
“It will be a great honour for me because this is one of the most famous and epic races, it still keeps all the meaning of real motorcycling and pilots who ride here deserve the biggest respect.”
“Furthermore, I will bring my experience in testing the D-air racing in MotoGP as a Dainese Safety ambassador.”
Nieto, a winner of 90 GPs and 13 world championships, also spoke of his respect for TT racers in the latest newsletter.

He said:

“It is many years since I’ve been on the Isle of Man and it will be very emotional to be at the TT races again. It is a very difficult circuit and a unique race – very different from MotoGP – and is only for the most talented riders.”
“To win the TT has always been very important for any racer. I am very keen to whether the event has changed since I was last there.”
Senior Race Day promises to be a star-studded affair – not only is there the blue-riband finale to racing the Mountain for 2010 and the lap by Lorenzo and Nieto, but there is also a wonderful parade lap planned to celebrate Suzuki’s 50th anniversary of racing, which will be led away by MotoGP veteran Loris Capirossi, and a parade of classic machines, including Luigi Taveri on a Honda.

And as if that wasn’t enough excitement, Relentless Suzuki by TAS Racing star Cameron Donald is scheduled to lap the TT course on Capirossi’s 2010 Rizla Suzuki GSV-R.
