I have been looking at the Muc Off range of cleaning products, but is it any good?? I have heaps of Meg & AG stuff for the taxi & wifes car. Any advise would be great.

I just use my car stuff to be honest.

I have a healthy supply of all purpose cleaner for cutting through grease though.

I also use Bilt Hamber Autobalm for protecting all the metal work.


My bike is EXTREMELY easy to clean, the bugs fall off it as I put in a bit of effort preparing it when I bought it.

I use Muc off's stuff along with a few AutoGlym products & would highly recommend either.

Muc Off blasts through all the bugs that've been fused on since 19 oatcake & AutoGlym's instant shine gets it looking sweet when you're done.

No probs getting bugs n stuff off if you wipe down before you put it to bed

erm, not quite all the time . . . (just depends what you are rubbing down and what kind of bugs)

"muc off" is the best product I've used, very kind to alloy, very good with grime.

Great stuff, even does the business on road tar spots no bother.

Just be careful when using some cleaning products on painted panels etc you may have waxed or put sealant on as some of these cleaning products will strip of these either instantly or over a few washes.

Even though there stuff is not labelled for bikes, i havent purchased any bike specific cleaner since i started car detailing.

Does anyone stock Muc Off products on Aberdeen?

Yep, HG's got it. We've also got muc off's range of lube (I can't believe it's not butter!), cleaners and polish.

I've tried various bike cleaners on both my Sprint and GS, mostly use the autoglym range but recently tried the SDoc1000 gel on the GS, have to say does exactly what it says on the tin, spray on, leave for 30 mins, agitate and spray off and pristine again, impressive but did use almost a whole bottle in one go so expensive.

Polish wise I use the autoglym polish for dark colours, its the black writing one and then there a resin type polish to go on top (if i'm feeling OCD about it).

Ordered a few bits from Polished Bliss for the car so going to use some of it on the bike when I get it.

Also I use a silicon spray (can't remember which one but its something like 655 from Shirlaws) sprayed on a rag and wipe over all the black plastics, brings them up looking better than new and means the bugs just wash off easily.

I use Muc-Off. Spray on, leave for a few minutes, agitate with a brush and jet wash off.

If any bugs or tar spots remain, I use Meguiars Bug and Tar remover.

Final step, I use Meguiars Quik Wax.


P.S. You can get Muc-Off from Halfords in the bike section (bike as in mountain bikes).

The Autoglym polish you talk about....Ultra Deep Shine...is quiet abrasive and is used to remove light swirls and holograms, it also contains fillers to mask off the swirls.
Super resin polish is a chemical cleanser which will remove any of the fillers put on with Ultra deep Shine.
Its also filler heavy which is good for masking off light swirls and marks but its not very durable unless topped off with Ultra Gloss protection.
Basically you will find all your hard work polishing and masking the swirls will dissapear next time you wash the bike unless the above fillers are sealed in.

I got 10l (5l BOGOF) of the stuff last year for £20 delivered. Next time I see it that deal again I'll be getting double.

Look up Muk Junkie website, looks to be the same as Muc Off, but a lot cheaper. Direct buy only i think.

Whatever she fed me it has made things somewhat inconvenient on the clothes front!

I use car shampoo and water...

Use Castrol bike cleaner for a good clean and Castrol bike polish to make er smooth again.
I think the bike cleaner is the same as Muc-off but I don't know if its as good.

Got some degreaser to really clean up bike from oily bits, brake cleaner (isn't it annoying how dirty the discs get?)and WD40.
