Minute of noise
Marco Simoncelli's father Paolo has requested that a 'minute of noise' is held during this weekend's Valencia Grand Prix in memory of his son, rather than the traditional minute's silence.
Simoncelli died when he crashed on lap two of the Malaysian Grand Prix and was struck by the following bikes of Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi. His funeral took place in Coriano last Thursday.
"Next Sunday during the Valencia GP, instead of there being a minute's silence to honour Marco, I would prefer that there was a minute of total chaos with all the engines of the bikes of MotoGP, Moto2 and 125 all on and roaring together," Gazzetto dello Sport quotes Paolo Simoncelli as saying during an interview on television programme Domenica Cinque.
Simoncelli's father added that he continued to be comforted by the affection shown by fans and colleagues in the wake of his son's death.
"People have come from all over Italy and from abroad to say goodbye to Marco," he said. "They cry and it's me that has to console then. Sometimes I think that Marco was an angel. All this affection makes me feel better and it is helping all of us. I think that the key to all this affection is his smile."

At 10.10am local time on Sunday morning riders from all three categories of the World Championship have been invited to depart from Pit Lane as a group, and complete a lap of the track in honour of Simoncelli.
The procession will be led by Marco Simoncelli’s San Carlo Honda Gresini RC212V bike, which will be ridden by 1993 World Champion Kevin Schwantz.
As the riders round the final corner of the circuit and approach the finish line they will stop just short, with local authorities and representatives of MotoGP’s governing bodies (Dorna, IRTA and the FIM) congregating on the other side of the finish line. Paddock members are also invited to be present on track and will be able to meet in a designated area.
Once the bikes have taken up their positions on the start/finish straight a two-minute Valencian Mascletà (a traditional firecracker display) will take place.

Re: Minute of noise
What did they do? Stuck offshore and was watching it on Eurosport until just after 9.30am because wanted to see it. Rig had other ideas though, we had a boat drill and the 125's were all sitting on grid by the time drill was done so missed itsteve wrote:Just watched it , great tribute from the entire paddock

All the motogp moto2 and 125 racers were led round by Kevin Schwantz (who was riding Simoncellis bike) on one parade lap of the Valencia track and were met on the grid by the rest of the paddock for a "casino" which was requested by Simoncellis family , the "casino" was 2 minutes of very loud fireworks
