Scarborough Gold Cup 2012

Just back from a weekend in Scarborough watching the Gold Cup racing. Hadn't been there for nigh on twenty years and although the town has changed the track hasn't (well maybe just a wee bit). Lovely town with a great atmosphere when all the bikers are in town. The circuit at Olivers Mount is a proper road race circuit, they just shut the roads round the park for the weekend, zero run off, thousands of trees and poles to hit, proper scary! I took some photos to let you see what the place is like.

You can get close to the action

Guy Martin knee down in the grass

The back straight before the downhill hairpin

John McGuiness flat out

Aberdeen's very own Craig Shirlaw

Guy Martin at Farm Bends with Scarborough in the background

Top three in the Gold Cup race

Michael Dunlop had a go at sidecar racing

From Turriff, team Past It, Robin and Anette Daykin

The main start finish straight

600 action at the first hairpin.

The blast up the hill under the bridge
Highly recommended for something different. I won't wait twenty years to go back!
