When will you retire your bike for the winter?

So as the topic says when will you retire your bike for the winter?

Personally since I've been riding if there is no snow I'll ride to work but there is definitely a decrease in bikes on the road.. I'll maybe see one or two on the way in now where as before I'd see one on most roads

I say never but actually I woose out when it comes to ice, there's just no grip on it. That and hail, it's like riding on ball bearings. Light snow and frost's okay though providing you wrap up warm and ride easy.

Always ready to go, just incase a bit of fine weather appears but i ride for fun, so don't have to ride.

I said never on the poll as I have chosen the push bike over the motorbike to commute now, I like TRK only ride for fun nowadays..

The winter season wear / tear and cleaning requirements for the bike in regards to the aftercare attributed to running in all sorts of sh1ty conditions (salt, rain, muddy, grit, decomposing leafs etc.) have become the worst part about end of the season riding for me.

Don't get me wrong I love to ride in all conditions, but due poor storage locations keeping a newer model motorbike (especial in the colour white) is a royal pain in the hoop...

Saying that my older bikes where run in all conditions

I ride for fun...mostly on the way to and from the office

Most of the time the weather is not the biggest problem, but the appropriate selection of kit

Which reminds me, I must put the thermal liners into the textiles, it has been a bit nippy the last couple of days.

Replied Cold/Frosty, but then I don't retire it then - just don't ride it when it's Frosty/Icy...

moving house at the start of december to westhill, where I work, so the bike shall no longer be used for the commute, so will prob only come out over winter on bone dry days when I NEED it and can't get my wifes car!

I rode the bike into the office today. I was pleasantly surprised how warm my hands were with the heated grips with my summer gloves on. The tips of my thumbs were getting a bit cold though. Need to dig out my heated gloves.

There is a surprising amount of salt down already, though, as my back tyre was white when I stopped.

did you self fit yours Coully? I said for years that I would get some. If you got them fitted can i ask what the approx price was inclusive of any fitting charges. (feel free to Pm me if that was the case)

lamentably no Haiax, they were already fitted to the bike when i purchased, part of the reason i went for it.

I'm the same as TRK, the two of us and a few others were out on the bikes on the 7th of January. Feckdeamon had more dirt on his back than the whole of Matts bike did.

A few years ago a few of us made the effort to get out on our bikes on January 1st just for the shear hell of it. We didn't go to far but it was good fun none the less.

My heated grips were quite good for a few weeks, now I'm not noticing it so much, maybe it's colder outside or they are less heated who knows

I've yet to use the 100% setting, am thinking it'll prob ably fuse my hands to the grips!

Damn I'll have to take a look at mine - even with them on by the time I am home my fingers are pretty cold I can't believe it's not butter!..

Put mine away last week. New tyres on, deep clean, greased the chain. Thin spray of protectant and cover on. Oximiser still to be hooked up.
Decided to put it away after a few hairy moments on greasy leaf covered roads.

Got some weird looks from people in Alford today when me and my dad pulled up on sports bikes. Was a great day for the bikes as it was surprisingly warm and the roads for the most part were dry. Now need I to clean my bike and chain.
