Like the title says my Triumph Sprint ST1050 reg no. SM10 WCU has gone missing from my works car park this afternoon sometime between 14:00 and 15:30. Removed in broad daylight past two buildings and a building site and so far nobody saw a thing!! The bike in question is a black one and is completly standard apart from it's black double screen. If anybody sees it give me a phone on 07887 667959 or e-mail bill@bamcc.co.uk the police and university security have been alerted so please keep your eyes peeled for it and help me get it back and see if we can't get one or more of these theiving barstewards in a cell where they belong. Thanks in anticipation.

Triumphs more than a couple of years old are way too easy to steal (like you I found that out the hard way). Big chain, disc lock, alarm and immobiliser is the way to go, once you get it back of course. Will keep an eye open.

Well it's a kinda good news / bad news day for me. The best news of all is that my stolen bike has re-appeared in Craigiebuckler of all places and has been taken to a local garage for safe keeping. I've been able to have a quick look, (couldn't touch it as the SOCO people hadn't been to look for prints) and as far as I could see its in one piece apart from the ignition lock although it looks like somebody has been trying to plough fields with it given the amount of mud on it. The bad news? Well it costs £150 to get it out of the garage and It's going to need a lock set at £305 so by the time it's all fitted I guess about £600 - £650. A lot of pounds for thinking it wouldn't be stolen from where it was parked.

Must say a big thank you to everyone who sent messages of support and took the time to share, word fairly spread around Aberdeen and who knows maybe even helped get her back. Even if like me you were just keeping your eyes open for it thank you. I sincerely hope than none of you will ever know just how good it feels to get something stolen back. If you have something you don't want to lose then please get it locked, I've certainly learned my lesson.

Quicksilver you are so right, once you work how they do it, it's rather depressing just how easy it is to steal. You'd like to think that the factory would something about it rather than just sell you a new bike but apparently not!

Sounds like a result. But 150 quid to get the bike out of the garage?

Why doesnt your insurance cover the garage fee and repair????

A workmate had his 1980 TS125ER stolen the same night. He got his back at the weekend and is also now going LARGE on the security measures. Like your bike, it was clarted in dubs, ignition butchered and scraped about.
If there was an upside to the events, witnesses said the educationally subnormal scrote really did himself some serious damage when he came off the bike while hooning about Tillydrone. He would have been taken away in the arriving ambulance if he hadn't came round, panicked and crawled off.

Insurance will cover the costs if I claim but as I have a £250 excess might not be worth it especially if my lose my NCB and they hike the premium next year. If the police find your stolen bike they phone Cars Recovery in Tullos and £150 is apparently the going rate for the recovery fee so at least now you know why the directors drive about in big flashy cars!!

Bummer about being stung for the garage fees but good to hear you got it back none the less!

Had the same happen to me. Bike clarted in mud, ignition sliced. £150 recovery fee and £150 in parts later...My excess is £450 so i didnt bother claiming..Thankfully not much more damage than that. I'm gonna blame this good biking weather for the recent rounds of thefts!

Me too, there was no point claiming on insurance when you take the excess and hike in premiums into account.

If its any use, I bought a used lockset off ebay for a few quid, so even after paying the recovery fee and getting the used locks fitted by Ecosse, it still came to less than the £250 excess, not to mention the premium increase for years to come.

aye, so did I, second hand beamer bits are nae cheap, especially of the old K bike variety.
