Next time a car driver gives you a hard time about filtering, refer him to this link....

Good read for non biker/ car drivers.
When i was with a mate at Ninewells waiting to get his wrist plastered a couple of months ago a guy got speaking to us. Realised we were bikers and proceeded to slag bikers off for filtering. He stated that he often felt like opening his car door/ giving biker a shove as he passed by/ block his way. He was politely told that filtering was legal and if he did what he thought of doing he would have a charge against him or the possibility of getting assaulted for his 1st and 2nd thoughts I can't believe it's not butter!.....jester to say the least !

I tend to either get folks happy to let me filter and going out of their way to do so (sometimes dangerously so!) or folk purposly(sp?) hogging the road/moving to within an inch of the car in front. Some people..

Worst is if you are getting up to lights that have just changed. Generally you can get in but some people are not so accommodating!!

i always acknowledge regardless of situation, if someone has let me in or moved, a wave of the hand or nod of the head, similarly if i've had to nip infront of them, a wave of the hand

Aye, Same here (when its safe to take a hand off), even when I sneak up to the front at a red. Even so some folks will go out of their way to not make it easy to filter

Responding badly to drivers that do not give you room does nothing for their relationship with bikers. It only causes them to be even less accommodating in the future. Ignore them, they are not obliged to give you room and you will get by them very soon anyway, whether they like it or not.

Courtesy does all bikers a favour. The middle finger does us all no good whatsoever.

Defo the quick wave does wonders to defuse things.
