Hot enough to cook an egg

Is it just me or is the heat coming off that thing some sort of hazard...

More power = more heat. I'm sure very few of them will ever be used in anger anyway.

For some reason I can't see this link, but I guess it's a picture of a hot exhaust.

I used to work in an engine laboratory. Exhausts on the test beds can glow red hot, even the turbo which has oil going through it. That gives you an idea of how tortuous it is for the oil.

Under the bonnet is probably a bit cooler due to air flow. Bike exhausts would similarly glow so at maximum power if it weren't for the wind flow. It'll not happen when revving at standstill as you're simply not putting enough fuel and oxygen in there.

On my first wee 125cc I accidentally touched my leg on the exhaust when coming off after a decent ride and ended up with a gnarly burn. I'm imagining the injuries that might happen with those pics and that H2 exhaust in the video. :evil
