Is less “more”…

At the weekend I was on a bike run.

One biker was on a 125.

While on a hilly twisty section I was behind the 125 watching the fine effort by the biker working the gears and trying to maintain momentum.
I had a wee smile to myself thinking the young lad was having a great time.

I was enjoying the run, but then thought that 125 rider having a better time than me, him pinning the throttle needing to keep the momentum, while me on my 100+ horse power big comfortable sensible bike was just pottering along.

I am not taking “better” bike, or bike most suited for the journey, just smiles per mile while fafing about on a day run ultimately heading back to when we started.

Go me a thinking…does a less powerful bike actually supply more smiles per mile :confused

Excellent run. Always good to go at a steady pace and work on your riding. Gave me a good chance to relax on right handers again.

Whatever I've ridden, I've always had fun. The slower it is often makes for more fun. I remember using an old C90 back in the days when I was hard up and even that gave me miles of smiles.

Getting fun out of the 998S was certainly a lot more dangerous too as anything below 70mph was just tiring on the wrists. Sit up and beg bikes such as big single dirt bikes are probably the most fun. My KTM 690R was a prime example. Loads of controllable fun without having to do break neck speeds and also the option to nip off-road if the opportunity arose.

The dirty half dozen.
