Sold Secure???????

There has been a rash of video link sending over the last few days regarding the incredible ease with which round keyed padlocks can be breeched. Now I have thought long and hard about this and I think it's safe to say that most pikeys and bike thieves know about this and I think it's about time we knew they know if you see what I mean. We need to understand that these things are worse than useless.
Just watch the vid, this is me in my room at 2:45am seeing if the rumours are true. They are. If I were you, I'd seriously consider binning that Kraptonite or round keyed Oxford lock because it's gonna cost you your bike. Oh, the blue thing in the vid is a pen, 30p. So much for Sold Secure, always said they were dodgy.

Cheers for posting that mate.
Im just about to go and buy some locks, so am glad i saw that.
Can anyone recommend some that are fit for the job?
Dont know whether to go for disc locks as well as hefty chain/padlock combo or just chain and lock.

if you have the cash get the locks that have the alarms build into them but i forget the name of them

I got a decent chain fairly cheap off ebay the other week, one of the oxford ones with the chain cloth wrapped and the replacement to the round keys.
Seems fine and it got a tail pack from the same place for about £30, again an oxford one, ok it has kawasaki all over it but does the job for me.

its a wee baggie that has a nice wee disk lock in side that you can attach to your rear seat while on the move rather than have a disk lock in the back of your bike rumbeling around

Kind of like a squarish bag that attached by bungees to the back to the bike to allow you to carry stuff without resorting to panniers, sits where the pillion would.

A lot depends on where you live. If you store your bike in a locked garage out in the country and never leave it unattended you need nothing. If your bike is left outside a flat in Northfield, then nothing short of a rabbid rotwieller will detter a joy rider / thief with a dope habbit to feed.
A disk lock is convenient but it is generally accepted that a chain lock offers better protection. It is easy to smash a cast iron brake disk and simply wheel the bike away. A chain can be used to secure the bike to a solid object. Personally I use both.
Avoid any lock which has a round barrel (as shown in video clip).
I purchased my "chain" lock from Halfords, much cheaper than bike shop. Actually it is wire covered in plastic - chain can damage paintwork.
IMHO after market alarms are more trouble than they are worth, but you may consider a cheap and cheerful Acuunen 911. Next time you buy a bike you may like to consider those with manufacturers factory fit passive security e.g. Honda HISS, Kawasaki imobiliser.

From that i take it that a tail pack is somewhere to store the lock when not in use.
Sits where pillion would.

I do live in the sticks and its garaged at night, but i am hoping to get some locks to keep my beauty secure while i leave it in town or anywhere that isnt home (not overnight, usually just a few hours)
Think ill invest in disc locks and a chain to give maximum piece of mind.
Just need to get a cover for it, so noone is tempted by the precious.
