Car question - I need to replace the bushes on the front wishbones on the car. How easy/difficult a job is this to do?
Can i pop the car on axle stands, whip the front wheels off to take the weight of the suspension and then just undoo the wishbone mounting bolts to get at the bushes?

Pollybushes are a polyurethane replacement bush that are a hell of a lot easier to replace than standard rubber bushes.
You can get the original "Polybush" or another version called "Deflex" which are the ones I use on my Landrover. There is another, cant remember the name, but in the landrover world they do not have a good rep.
To get the old ones out is a pain. Easiest way is to take the item to a garage and get them to press them out, second, use a hacksaw to cut two grooves about 5mm apart. This causes the bush to collapse, and then theycan be drifted out, third, they can be burnt out, then drifted to remove the remaining metal ring.
Normally the bush will have a metal outer ring, followed by a flexible rubber, with another metal ring in the centre. I Drilled the rubber out, thus removing the inner metal ring, then did the two cuts to the outer ring and then drifted it.
Putting in the polybush is a case of sliping it in place. Sometimes a vice is needed to seat it in. If you get it in a little, a touch of copperslip and a rubber mallet can be used..but normally hand presure will do it.
You get different stifnesses, blue being soft, orange hard etc.
