Audi to provide official cars for TT
The Isle of Man TT Races will play host to the British debut of the latest and most powerful model in Audi’s TT range.
It has been confirmed the 272PS TTS has been chosen by the Island’s Department of Tourism and Leisure as the Official Car of the 2008 TT Races, which run from May 24 until June 7.
Tourism and Leisure Minister Adrian Earnshaw said:
‘It is a great opportunity to have Audi as our Official Car Partner as the Audi Sports car is named after the TT circuit.’
The car giant will provide eight cars to be used during the event, taking on roles including course inspection and roads opening duties.
Audi UK’s head of marketing Peter Duffy said:
‘We are delighted to be associated with the Isle of Man TT races and to be able to play an active part in the event.’
‘The TT races are an integral part of Audi’s heritage and we look forward to writing the next chapter in the company history.’
The Audi TT was first shown as a concept car at the 1995 Frankfurt Motor Show and was immediately lauded for its ultra-modern, yet seemingly timeless, interpretation of classic sports car design. It was created in homage to the TT Races, in which riders from NSU, one of the Audi founding companies, began campaigning in 1911.
