Re: Wheelies
some bikes have grabby clutches. Hydraulic clutches seem to be the worst in my experience.
Best advice, pull away more gently!
Second best advice, get a better clutch
My busa has a very very grabby clutch. It almost threw me off the back one day. I am thinking about retro fitting a b-king clutch in the winter.
Go on a specialist CBR400 site and get some specific advice

Sit nearer the back. Should come up much easier.zippy wrote:Anyone want to share some advise on this one. I just fitted a new clutch and have caught myself out twice now, trying to get away fast.

Look around the side of the tank when you can't see the road anymore.

Re: Wheelies
Have you got enough oil in the bike?
1st gear wheelie off the throttle getting hard on the throttle get used to the front end getting light
2nd and higher gears accellerate upto about 5-6000rpm drop the revs (compresses the forks) grab a handfull of throttle release the clutch pull on the bars (the decompressing spring will also help pull up the front) keep the rear brake covered ready to drop it if it goes too high.
Keep practicing to find the ballance point have fun
Don't blame me when you bin it

Re: Wheelies
Just take it easy with letting your clutch out, only done wheelies off the clutch on my 125 coz it had no power.
With the gixer can get it to wheelie if im going at about 20mph then just crank the throttle back and it pops up but i cant keep it up for very long
but it never pops up in nay other gears. Will have a few goes with the clutch if i can find a good place and feel confident.
Still need to go out on a nice day and make a biking video.
Could do one on the lochnes trip but its awhile away

Re: Wheelies
1. Sit at 2/3k rpm.
2. Apply the rear brake to get the bike down to around 1,500 rpm (motor still pulling). Front forks should compress slightly. . .
3. Pull in your clutch and accelerate up to around 5/6k rpm.
4. Ping your clutch back out (literally) and bring your hands up towards your chest. . . Hey presto! A wheelie is born
Please make sure you have your rear brake covered at all times as the bike will more than likely come up faster than you anticipate the first few times you do it!!
Hope that helps you dude

Or just sit at high(ish) revs, blip the throttle and ping the clutch. . . The first way is much safer though!!

Re: Wheelies
I can't wheelie to save myself but I pulled a stoppie in front of my wife and kids last night.
I got a telling off from her which I responded to with a shizzle attempt at a burn out.
When I got off the bike my kids tried to give me a telling off but I was too busy giggling like a fool to listen.
The last time I tried a wheelie I think I managed to get the front wheel off the ground about 2cm (on a private driveway I might add). I'm sure that Zax will back me up on that height. It felt like 2 feet though!

Have you tried womens underwear?JoeyA wrote:i cant keep it up for very long and it never pops up in any other gear

As for wheelies, unless you're prepared to throw your bike down the road don't bother. It will happen sooner or later if you keep doing it.
The 250 crosser advertised by Zax is the perfect machine. It's designed to be thrown down the road and you can keep picking it up and having another go.

Re: Wheelies
Don't do wheelies unless on power only, but even then you should keep them down as low as possible to maintain drive and stability.
All that loving clutch stuff will result in your bike being trashed and you in hospital - sooner or later. Furthermore, you could get done for reckless endangerment
