Hi, just looking for a wee bit of advice on a tyre !! Due to my misfortune and coz i didna get my finger out in time, i've had to stick a Pirelli Diablo Corsa on the rear of my Busa !! Up until yesterday i'd been running a pair of Bridgestone BT020's which were fine and the rear had lasted a good while. Now i'm running the Corsa on the rear and the older BT020 on the front, is that a safe enough combination or am i riskin' it ?? Also what sort of mileage can i expect to get out of the Corsa (i got 4000+ miles out of the BT020 with fairly moderate riding) !!

Re: Pirelli Diablo Corsa
Depends on the kind of riding, if yer nipping on and asking for lots of grip from the edges of the tyres then i'd say it wasn't that safe. If you're a a commuting/stick to the speed limits kinda guy then it should be fine. Mileage is impossible to gauge but you'll get less that's for sure!

Re: Pirelli Diablo Corsa
Manufacturers will tell you not to mix tyres, but at the end of the day, they are out to sell tyres.
But there is reason behind this, as a front and rear of the same type will have matching profiles etc, which will aid stability when cornering.

Re: Pirelli Diablo Corsa
Thanks fer the advice, i was just a tad worried that with the BT020 being a sports/touring tyre and the Corsa a more scratchin' orientated tyre, the rear would give me a false sense of security and maybe i'd end up havin' the front slide out from me....i'll take it ease fer now but i guess there's only one way to find out, eh

It may be perfectly safe but if you have an accident and have to involve an insurance company then it may cause problems having missmatched tyres on your bike.
If it was me it would probably be playing on my mind when I was riding so would want to change the front to match the rear so it was no longer a distraction. By posting the question up here I get the feeling that you are not 100% confident in the mix either.
You don't want something like that on you mind when you are on the bike.

Also remember that the sticky tyre is on the back.
You know which one will probably let go first. For me I'd rather it was the rear as it's easier to catch.
Personally I'd rather have matched tyres.

perharps you should consider changing the bike not the tyre
TBH if you get that much out of a rear your not using much of the bikes potential and may be better off with a more touring oriented bike,
but thats just my opinion and not intended as a dig
