Meta alarm problem

Anyone got the wee instruction card for a Meta 357T?

To cut a very long story short my bike won't start because I can't switch the immobiliser off. It's been playing up for a while now and I've already been "stranded" once, and today the same thing happened again!! (Luckily at home).

After speaking to Ecosse and ruling out the bike battery and key fob batteries they think it's the alarms internal battery that has insufficient charge, the system is completely dead and unresponsive to the remote. The Meta systems guy reckons that running the bike for a couple of hours will apparently charge it, but therein lies the problem as I can't start the fookin thing !

Apparently there's a way to put it into "workshop" mode ???? If anyone knows how please PM me !!

PS Even the LED is dead, which rules out the ignition on/off method of entering the PIN number

If the bike is completely dead, the imobiliser must still be on. When you turn the ingnition on, the fuel pump wont prime.

Workshop mode, as far as i know, the imobiliser will still be on, but the movement sensor is switched off.
To get it into this state, arm the system as normal, but continue to hold down the button until an extra short beep and flash of the indicators. The system will now be armed, with the movement sensor switched off.

Will the alarm battery not charge thought the bikes battery, if you hooked the bike upto an Optimate?

Could it be the Suzuki immobilser thats not turning off?


From the Meta operating instructions sheet.To re-activate the system (from sleep mode) turn on the ignition and press the remote within 5 second.
NOTE. When the system is armed as an imobiliser the battery back up is not active. The siren will not sound if the bikes battery is disconnected. This can be useful when servicing the bike or replacing the battery.

Sleep mode.
If the battery voltage is low, the alarm will enter sleep mode.
If the system is not armed, disarmed, or triggered in 10 days, the alarm also enters sleep mode.
All alarm features are disabled except the immobiliser.
The current draw in now zero (zero battery consumption).
To exit sleep mode, turn the ignition on. Disarm using the remote. If the alarm entered sleep mode from a fully alarmed state, it gives a 5 second pre-alarm beep signal to allow disarming before sounding. If after the 5 second period, the system is not disarmed with the remote, the siren will sound.

But I think the system will passively immobilise if it isn't active. When I turn the ignition on, then you are right the fuel pump does not prime (although the headlight comes on and the tacho needle does its funky thing and the 'F.I.' warning light comes on.

For the last week it's been giving four very loud beeps when I've tried to arm/disarm it, and I already had it booked in to get looked at! I'm a bit p*ssed off because it was supposed to be fixed after it died a few weeks ago and got there in the van!

The bike battery is spanking brand new. I thought that was the original problem and bought a new one . I replaced the ones in the remote too. There isn't a built in Suzuki immobiliser (2001 model) so it can't be that.

Not sure about the optimate solution, I'll give it a try.

The "workshop mode" might be a dealer only function, they said it might be on the instruction booklet which I can't find. I can't put it into sleep mode as you suggest because I can't arm it in the first place...... It's proving difficult to get any answers

It doesn't beep, but I'll try that tonight and see if it works

Aftermarket bike immobilisers are nothing but grief !!!!

Same thing happened to me on my VFR.

I ripped the bloody thing out in the end with the help of Big Kneed Al (master of the emergency stop & "stand up" comedian).
