Should the FIM ban Traction Control and other Electronics?
Should Traction Control and every thing else such as electronic engine braking control, lean fuel modes and anti-wheelie control etc be banned?
The most illuminating view came from Valentino Rossi himself whilst commentating on Sunday's 125 race on Eurosport (Which, as Gixxerbabe pointed out, you wouldn't get on the Beeb). He said that MotoGP is now much more serious as a result of all the electronics and is boring. He claimed that the show is not as exciting now and it's all much harder work. Rossi said that the 500s and even the 990s were far more exciting to ride and to watch.
This is not an anti Stoner question either. He doesn't win because the Ducati has better electronics, he wins because he can make better use of them than anyone else.
F1 has just got rid of most of the driver aids - for the better it seems.
The other side of the argument is that all the stuff developed for the track makes its way on to the road. Look at all the cars with ABS, Traction Control, Launch Control, ESC, DSP etc.

Pretty obviously Stoner is somewhat special. Marco Melandri is no slouch, has the same package and can't do a thing with it. Testament to Casey's skill I'm sure.Sherpa wrote:

I voted yes, although I wouldn't say the racing is exactly dull. Would just be better to watch without the electronics, level the playing field a bit and reduce costs for the smaller teams.

Agree with Gazza. It was just so evident when I was at the GP this year. Sideways style rules.

I was leaping around the room cheering last week when Danni binned it at Sachsenring.

Crashing is ok unless there's a major injury or fatality I guess. That's why many folk watch any form of motor racing.

That's probably because Danni's downfall didn't assist you to your rightful place in the Fantasy League.

No I tend to chose riders I like - I had Rossi and Edwards. Being a lazy git is what prevented me from leaping off the sofa.

Why didn't you have Guintoli? You had money spare and he earned 5 points.

WTF did you think you got a 10M budget for with some riders on there worth only 1M? What dipstick would buy one of them if you were only allowed two?

Still, on the bright side - you actually PAID money to that "DJ" at your leaving do. You can tell a DJ probably Isn't gonna be much good when he turns up in a Corsa with "Dave's Mobile Disco" emblazoned down the side but he really took the biscuit. At least we got to hear his karaoke versions of all his own favourite songs.

The thing is. If you ban traction control in moto gp. Superbikes then become more advanced.
I personally would like to see them banned. But i would also like to see the being removed from superbikes an supersport also. If they could get dorna to agree on it?!?! but i very much doubt it.

Re: Should the FIM ban Traction Control and other Electronics?
Theres no rule that says Motogp has to be the most advanced motorcycle sport. Its just a conseqence of them being prototypes.
Nothing wrong with letting the superbike develop traction control etc for road bikes and letting the motogp go wild.
