R-6 Sprockets

Post by Janner »

Hi

Im needing a new chain and sprockets for the R-6 (2007) and was hoping if someone could tell me the chain length if I was to put a 15 on the front and a 47 on the rear? the standard length is 114 links.

Cheers

I’m wanting more mid range power I know it will kill the top end slightly but its supposed to be more used friendly, and then there’s also the ability to power wheelie in second! :biggrin2

Standard rear in 2000 for the R-6 was 48T, what is the standard gearing you have on the bike just now ?

If you want more low down poke than go down one on the front and up 2 on the back, BUT it may want to wheelie like a goodun.

I went for 1 down (front) and 2 up (back) on my old Storm.

The front wheel enjoyed a pleasant view of the sky through first and second. :log

Starting to wish I hadn't got rid of that thing, it was a hoot to ride! :freebird

Using Baldys gearing commander (Brilliant Find BTW :2up ) you can go to a 15 x 48 gearing on your standard chain by moving the wheel 7mm forward. if you go up 1 link then the distance is about what it is as standard.

for a 15 x 47 gearing you will have to move the wheel in 4.9mm whilst keeping the 114 link chain.

.............. behave !!!! :log

the 2007 R-6 uses a 16 front and 45 rear ........

going to a 15/47 set up will probably make 1st gear redundant ......
dont forget the speedo on the YZFR6 runs from the gearbox so any changes you make will mess up the display.

Best of luck :cheers
