You dudes who have laid your bike up over the winter, may want to spend an hour or two on TLC before you take it out.

It seems obvious, but please check your tyres for pressure and any signs of damage or excessive / uneven wear.
Check the chain for free play and give it a good clean and lube (I can't believe it's not butter!).
Check the battery is sound, holds a decent charge and all the lights work and the battery.
Check free play and lube (I can't believe it's not butter!) all the control levers and cables.
Brakes can bind while sitting. It is not hard to sort. Take the callipers off and pull gently on the lever to eject the pistons. Not too much, just enuf to clean and lube (I can't believe it's not butter!) so that each one moves freely. Remember the back. You may not use it much in summer, but ought to when road condition is poor. Cleanliness is next to godliness (speaking of a God - I wonder how Rossi will do on the Yamaha?)
