Need advise on choice ot tyres - gsxr 600 k6
Hi,
I would like some advise on which tyres would be best suited for my bike.
I have a gsxr 600 k6 which currently has bridgestone battleaxe's which came with the bike.
But now the time has come that I need to replace both the front and the back (poor wallet)
I'm thinking this would be the ideal time to change to another type if any better suited.
Any advise much appreciated, cheers

2CT's , Corsa 3's and 016's are all popular choices just now for a 600.
but in the end of the day it comes down to personal preferance.

Go to Sillets,
ask him what he recommends.
he'll look at your tyres and know what you need, note: this will not necessarily be what you think you want.
Super sticky track day tyres are suited to about .5% of the biking population, 'Touring' tyres tend to be stickier more of the time for most of us as, frankly the only people who can get track day tyres to temperature on the road tend not to be able to do it at 'sedate' speeds.
he'll also do the best deals you can get here.
It's what I do.
I read up, look at the tread patterns on the latest super sticky quadruple compound flinky dink doo dah, Rab looks at the chicken strips on my tyres, shakes his head at what I have asked for and gives me rubber that actually suits how I ride.
He's a guid loon.

Michelin Pilot Power 2CT's would be my choice.

Any of those suggested will be fine even if you are looking for trackdays. I aint going near the track so Ive got some Dunlop Roadsmarts fitted to the Superduke and Ive never felt any difference to the so called sports tyres with the added bonus they will last slightly longer.

As said above, don't go for the most hyped fastest race tyre that the magazines say as you won't (maybe you can?) get heat into them.
I have never thought i would notice difference in tyres, as not fast enough, but actually find i do. Had a go of my mates Gayblade and it was on Michelins, and i didn't like it. Think im used to the profile of Pirelli's.
I would recommend Pirelli Dragon Corsa 3's.
If you go to Sillets, as well as speaking to Rab, i'm sure their is a chart on the wall showing the differing type and model names of the tyres, and their usage. From Track only, down to Touring. It will give you a fair idea of what to enquire about. But as Roy says, ask the man himself.
Just remember to give them a good few miles to get the release agent off the rubber.
(got 2 brand new tyres on my track bike, and given the tyres a good clean with brake cleaner to try to remove surface release agent. Dunno if this is cosher, but will find out Monday

Nothing wrong with bog standard Pirelli Diablos. Not the fancy Corsa ones, just the standard...as recommended by Silletts for my CBR 6. Pretty cheap too at about £140 a pair.
Also think the Metzler Roadtecs are a great tyre, have them on the TRX and they are superb in the wet. Dual compound and show very little wear, which for a heavy twin is pretty good.
As said above, if you ride on the road, buy a road bias tyre :)

I tend to buy Pilot Power 2ct's most of the time!
Excellent tyres with masses of grip & a quick warm up time!
At the moment I'm running Metzeler M3 Sportech's and they're even grippier in the dry but I've done a mere 800 miles so far and they're already showing signs of being goosed!
I'd say they've around 200 miles of B roads left in them.
If it was my cash, I'd buy the 2ct's. . . They last long enough to keep your wallet happy whilst providing enough grip through all conditions to keep your underwear clean and your face smiling!
Although, the new Pirelli Angel things may be worth a look (never used them so I can't comment).
Hope that helps.

Find out what Sillets have on special offer and get those. What ever you get they will be different from what you currently have so take time to get use to the handling characteristics etc. Sport touring (designed for the road) rubber is best for us mortals.

I now am the proud owner of a set of pirelli angels.
I spoke to Rab at sillets and told him what I was after, he didn't even pause before highly recommending the angels.
If they perform anything like what they look like Im gonna be a happy biker.
Superb!! Cheers
Now just got to wait till they're all scrubbed up
