Could well cost him the championship. Even so, he did a fantastic last lap to recover to 4th and only 1000th of a second off 3rd.

The rider was just reacting to the "Fact" that he thought that the had finished that final lap.

as Gaz said it is amazing that he managed to recover to finish 4th(nearly third) concidering how much ground he lost coming down the main straight.
But the real kick in the plumbs was havin to leave 'park ferme' as he was 4th and not 3rd....... walk of shame ....
