stolen bike crash

Saw this in the P&J. Seems a bit strange to charge her, when the bike was stolen :angryfire

A young woman has been charged with causing the death of an Aberdeen teenager by driving carelessly.

Terry Crook was killed when the stolen motorbike he was riding collided with a car on July 16 last year.

The 18-year-old had been driving the motorbike with his girlfriend on the back when it smashed into a car on the city’s Provost Rust Drive.

Now, almost exactly a year on, Lisa Robertson is facing a charge which alleges she caused Mr Crook’s death by driving without due care and attention.

The 24-year-old is accused of driving her Volkswagen Polo without “reasonable consideration for other persons using the road” by performing a right hand turn when it was not safe to do so.

Court papers allege that by making this turn she crossed into the path of the motorcycle ridden by Mr Crook while he was carrying his 16-year-old girlfriend Jenna Gaudie on the back.

As a result of the crash, which is alleged to have been caused by Robertson, of 5 Louden Place, Dyce, Mr Crook died and Miss Gaudie sustained serious injuries.

Robertson’s case called at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Friday, where no plea was tendered.

It was continued for a month and she is expected to appear in person on August 15.

Following the crash police appealed to the public for information in the hope of shedding some light on what led to the incident.

Grieving family and friends left floral tributes at the scene in Provost Rust Drive, in the Northfield area of Aberdeen.

Miss Gaudie was taken to hospital to be treated for serious leg injuries.

Police were called to the collision opposite the Hamewith Lodge care home following numerous calls from members of the public.

The road was cordoned off for hours as ambulance crews treated the casualties and a large crowd of residents gathered as the tragedy unfolded.

Two fire crews and a number of police officers were also in attendance.

The motorbike could be seen on its side several feet from the wreckage of the car, which had suffered damage to the bonnet at the driver’s side.

The engine of the bike was smashed and a helmet lay on the ground nearby.

Plain-clothes police officers remained at the scene late into the night as they tried to piece together what happened in the moments leading up to the accident.

Stolen bike being driven by a thief , no insurance etc etc etc ridden around the area wrecklessly for an extended length of time was an accident that was waiting to happen .

IMHO there is no way this girl ( who I think was pregnant at the time of the crash )should be anywhere near the court.

Terry Crook by name and nature
Little poo deserved what he got in that one and to be fair he had it coming

If that offends anyone on here then do some research on him and tell me im wrong!!!

Shocking that you can steal something, act like a complete muppet without regard for anyone elses safety including your own girlfriends and then some other innocent person takes you out and they get done for it.

Some criminal justice system in this country is all I can say.

No sympathy for the wee jester. Little to no sympathy for the family who raised a thieving scumbag.

That woman should be nowhere near the courts at all. Even if she perhaps pulled out on the lad without looking. Fact is he stole the bike and clearly had NO idea how to ride the thing, perhaps if he'd gone for some bike training and obtained a licence/bought his own bike he would have seen a hazard developing and slowed down in good time...and still been alive today to carry on stealing bikes and being a general jester...

We're all taught and trained to ride safely and look out for cars who might not see bikers, because things like this DO happen. This should've been an open and shut case.
