CBR 125 06 big bore kit

As daft as it may sound, but I fancy playing around with this thing more after I pass test, project bike and get a real one to blat about on.

Anyone any ideas where I can find a big bore kit for the 125, tried multiple searches and come up with zip! I know they exist but I'll be damned if I can find one anywhere on the net! most searches just bring up bikes already converted and sold. It's taken me almost a week to track down an undertray, seems parts aint well advertised even though they are out there.

Personally I'd suggest saving the cash you are thinking of spending on that and put it to a larger bike once your probation period is out and you've had a few miles under your belt on a standard bike.

I'm with Big Kneed Al (master of the emergency stop & "stand up" comedian) on this one (and the Yanks too). For the cost of a big bore kit, fitting and setup, you'd probably be better selling the 125 and buying a bigger bike. Even with the kit you'd be hard pushed to match a standard 400.

Lots out there to choose from :2up and you could always go the big bore route with the 400 once you're 'used' to it :roll

The other thing is as the 125 is an ideal learner bike by messing about with it you'll be loosing value. Best off getting as much as you can for the 125 and getting a bigger bike you wont need to scream the nuts off everywhere you go.
If your wanting to fettle a bike there are plenty of bigger bikes about for much cheapness you'll probably get something for the price of the 125 :2up

You can get bore kits for them, but from Thailand!!, where this sort of thing is common. For a 125 its not expensive at all (around £400 with shipping) and easy to do yourself, but you will also need a carb kit for it. You can get just about anything for them for racing, including valves, cams, filters etc

I have done many big bore conversions on 2-strokes from 125 upto 175/180cc and from 200 to 225 cc...all good fun!! The 4-stroke is a little harder but do-able at home.

HOWEVER, would I do it to a 125 these days, nahhhh, your insurance company will have a fit!! They will hike your premium so high you might as well buy a 400.

But why not...if you can afford it I say go for it, its all part of the learning curve :)

Thanks a lot for the advice peeps, you made me doubt doing now :P

But see where you coming from, was really to get to learn the insides of a 4 stroke, wasn't bothered about the value anyway, prolly only get £1500 for it anyway thanks to SBS and a diesel spill right outside their yard
