Indicators playing up
Noticed on the way to work my indicators are playing up... They work sometimes, sometimes they flash irregularly and other times they dont come on at all.
My thoughts are either loose connection, or bust capacitor.
Some advice where to look first from you brainy folks much appreciated before i go get my hands dirty!

Sounds like a bad earth. Could be tricky to find.

Relay?
Best take it to a service centre, they'll be able to check it out right away.
Try Shirlaws, they might get you in sharp this time of year.

Re: Indicators playing up
It is well worth taking the indicator bulbs out and checking if there is any corrosion build up in the bulb holders.
ITs a 15 min job and if one has it would certainly give you problems on that side.
Another potential area for corrosion to creap into the system on some bikes is where the indicators plug into the main part of the loom with bullet connectors.
If these are not done up properly water can get and start causing you problems.
Well worth checking prior to booking your bike into a shop.

Re: Indicators playing up
If, as you say, they sometimes don't work at all then it is most likely a problem with the flasher relay. It is one of the ones under your seat to the rear of the battery. Either their is a bad connection on the pins of the relay or the relay itself is hosed.

Re: Indicators playing up
Ok. Think it is the relay. They stopped working almost completely now but all four flash when I set/unset the alarm.
Is the relay bike specific or can I just pick one up anywhere?
cheers

Re: Indicators playing up
It is a standard Triumph part so I would expect that Shirlaws would have on in stock.RideTheLightning wrote:Ok. Think it is the relay. They stopped working almost completely now but all four flash when I set/unset the alarm.

Re: Indicators playing up
Picked up a relay from shirlaws last night (£47!!) and problem solved.
Didnt really mind paying that tho since it was dodgy as hell riding there with no indicators.
Cheers for advice

Glad you got sorted, indicators are indeed very important but remember, it's just as important to have them off than on.
