Attempted theft.
While I was in Edinburgh over the weekend, my bike was taken out of my drive and onto the road in an attempted theft on Monday night/tues morning. Due to a dead battery it wasn't going anywhere so they, what it looks like threw down the bike at running speed and left. Neighbours found it lying on the road at 05:30.
Smashed fairings, indicator and snapped fixings on the handlebars. Surely someone out there knows names of those who do this? I'd be grateful for any information.

Seriously don't do anything. The PF seems to enjoy protecting these little f***ers. I have first hand experience of this and it cost me £1k on solicitors fees. Their time will come trust me.

Re: Attempted theft.
Don't know if any of you follow fubarnews on fizzer book but there's a lot of folk post these days about bikes tearing around doing wheelies and riders generally being dicks.
Each time at least one person comments along the lines of "just knock them off" and the torrent of abuse they get......
I used to be a liberal till i got broken into and then a bike stolen. Bit of a different view on this subject now......

Dunno what's happening to Aberdeen these days, all these thefts recently are loving ridiculous - the police need to pull their finger out.

The courts need to pull their finger out - the majority of the wee scrotes have been arrested, charged and sent to court. They only get a month or two inside (to learn from thieving scrotes from elsewhere) at most, perhaps a driving ban, and a wee slap on the wrist.Myxomatosis wrote:Dunno what's happening to Aberdeen these days, all these thefts recently are loving ridiculous - the police need to pull their finger out.

Re: Attempted theft.
I think it's a bit of both - mate had his KTM nicked and two days later it overtook him in his car. He followed it up to Northfield and lost it, but the rider was clearly just buzzing about there as it went past his parked car three times - the only reason he didn't get out and lamp the guy was his wife was in the car and threatening him with divorce (she didn't want him going to prison). He called the police and they refused to attend. Situations like that will lead to so much frustration that people will do something they regret.Feckdeamon wrote:The courts need to pull their finger out - the majority of the wee scrotes have been arrested, charged and sent to court. Why did the police refuse to attend?
Seems ridiculous that someone can take something you have worked hard for and when you find it the police won't come and enforce the law

Re: Attempted theft.
if he had nae helmet on they can't pursue.
My wife witnessed a theft at our rugby club training one night, couple of plain clothes bobbies took a statement at her house a wee while later and I got tore into them regarding pursuits etc, in that respect they are as frustrated as we are in the lack of power to pursue as it were, certainly when the wee scrotes are asking for it by not wearing a helmet at least.
I don't know what i'd do if I found a scote nicking my bike,... but then there's always plausible deniability if no one saw anything,.... how'd he get so marked,... well you see officer,... he tripped over his untied laces as i gave chase, and took quite a tumbled,... he seemed to hit the ground with every bit of his body
, it was like cirque du soleil, the tumble he took!

Re: Attempted theft.
I am lead to believe this recent theft attempt and damage was done by the very same person/s who tried to take it on a previous occasion. They didn't seem to learn there lesson after the first time, so lets see if the second time round brings it home for them..

Re: Attempted theft.
They refused to attend for two reasons. The first was they stated they wouldn't pursue someone on a motorcycle as it may endanger them and others. The second was they said they were conducting a major operation and didn't want to compromise that. I'm sure you can imagine the frustration that caused!Myxomatosis wrote:Why did the police refuse to attend?

You seriously got told that!!!!Yarek wrote:...as it may endanger them.....
Next it will be oh sorry we cant send them out the station today as they might catch a cold if its raining I can't believe it's not butter!
Too much h&s bullshit these days. Coppers sign up knowing their job is slightly dangerous and that there is a risk to their own health, let em do their job I say.
Its like telling a soldier they cant fight as they might get shot at and hurt or killed!!!!

Re: Attempted theft.
It may endanger them.. but I bet if someone with a license, tax, mot etc etc is doing 10mph over the speedlimit they will be sure to chase them down and slap a ticket in their face.
CRAZY.

Re: Attempted theft.
The risks are not necessarily to the ned riding the motorbike but to the general public in the areas where they are likely to be pursued.
They are most likely riding a machine of questionable heritage without TAX, MOT, insurance, minimum safety equipment and not obeying any traffic laws. This means that they will think nothing of riding up paths and lanes and generally going places and at speeds none of us would dream of going in built up areas were there are likely to be children and other pedestrians.

Theres always hope that common sense prevails but it rarely does. however when it does, nobody will know that it did, cause that wouldn't sell paperslawzer wrote:What happened to the minks that ploughed into the folk at the student torcher a few years back?
