I thought it was the dry clutch which was meant to make rattly noises?

Re: My pistons know how to shake, baby!
The big end bearings spun in their shells and then picked up which locked the back wheel (on the dual carriageway). Surprisingly, only the crank, rods and bearings suffered major damage. The pistons were topping out when it was restarted but they don't actually look that bad. A couple of valves are also pretty bent and there's a spring or 2 missing from the transmission but the damage wasn't as catastrophic as I had expected given the noise it was making.
The primary cause of the noise was the pistons vibrating the whole way up and down their stroke...
Regardless, it's too new a bike to mess about with a rebuild when the cause of failure isn't clear so I've managed to scoop a whole new engine which will be going in sometime next week.
It does however mean that i'll need to at least try to be nice to this one for the first few hundred miles.
