exhaust problems

Post by RK6 »

Just bought a 97' B6' as usual with a Bandit over 10 years old the connection between the headers and the link pipe is rotten and leaking.........
Previous owner sealed and re-connected this with some un-known
material/filler/cement type stuff and that held for a little while. Low and behold it has now seperated once again.
There are no holes in the pipe work its simply just not sealed together properly, making it stupidly loud (which i wouldn't mind if the bike wasn't a 600 Bandit!!)

I will be buying new down pipes in a couple of months when i have the cash as the rest of the bike is absolutely mint! but need the bike in the meantime.

Any suggestions would be muchos appreciated!

Cheers :2up

Coke cans and jubilee clips.

Metal thin enough to 'mold' into shape and retain in place with the jubilee clips

Alternatively you can pick up aluminium tape from B&Q. Just wrap the tape around the connections and secure with jubilee clips above and below the leak :2up

Do a search for "Banditmania" on the interweb. For some reason, Suzuki decided to put a normal steel 4-1 collector section inbetween the stainless steel header pupes and the read link pipe.

Bandit mania are can take you existing fron system, remove the rusty center section and replace it with a shiny new one.

Only other option is see if there are any on ebay.
