Could the heat from the engine effect the HT Leads if one or more of the HT leads was pin down onto the engine head. so when the engine got hotter will it effect the power going down that Particular lead or how the lead behaved ??
Heat will affect them. My V8 has heat shielded Silicone HT leads that cost a small fortune...well..for 8 of them they are..I can't believe it's not butter!. These are a heavy duty item for offroading where the engine can spend a long time at high revs but low speed (low ration gearbox) thus heating up the engine bay nicely.
might be the route of the troubles mate
is there a better route for the lead and what sort of condition is it in?
idling on 3 cyls while on load = stall
cheers backs.. think i might re-route my HT leads as 2 are sorta pinched between the air filter and engine head.. not much room in these 400 especially with a stupid sized air box that doubles back on its self from the carbs and bolt onto the frame near where the head stock is..
these bikes are built for small jap hands I can't believe it's not butter!
that was my same thought blackstorm.... worth a try but i think i will try cleaning the carbs as well after as i do remember the last time i took the air box off it wasn't on the middle 2 inlets of the carb bank there was a slight gap so there is chance of some crap going in... nightmare standard air boxes I can't believe it's not butter!

I ran a ZXR 400 for 4 years..and had no skin left on my knuckles!..and noooo, its not because they dragged on the floor!!
i used to have a zxr 400 as well until i layed it to rest... excellent bikes they where... i think if i remember right from when i did stuff on my zxr4 is that the gixer 4 is slightly tighter around the engine block. but like i say the airbox is the pain... i was hoping to put cones on but i don't want the hassle of rejeting the carbs. as i'm hoping to get a bigger bike in the near future... seen a few nice zxr 750 on bike trader..
always been a fan of the ninja/ZXR range only thing that i didn't like on older models was the single headlight unit unlike newer models and the 750 range with the twin round lights..
