electrics
right guys it seems that when i hit the start button on my ccm the battery leadswill start to get hot very quick and smoke from the battery leads why
is this . i got the bike stolen 2 weeks ago and the f*cker pulled all 6 ignition wires i have
managed to match 2 of the six wiredand am left with 4 wires i am not sure what to do with the bike is starting but the
battery leads r going hot . is this coz i dont have the rest of the
ignition wires wired up its very strange that the leads get hot .

cheers for the reply my friend . as i said the bike got stolen and i got it back with the wires from the ignition pulled of so there is six wired and i have only connected 2 of them . if it was a earth prob would i still get the lights working . the lights r working and the bike is starting but when i hit the start button the bike battery leads heat up . i asm getting a new battery at the weekend . something is not right everything was fine before it got stolen its got to be something to do with the wired i have conected but i dont no how to wire them back up i have the wiring diagram from ccm but not sure about it as it does not state where the wires go . i cant aford to put the bike into a shop to get it fixed .is there any of u guys no more about bike electrics than me . if so can u come and have a look at my bike with a multi meter and sort it out for me . i will bye u a pint . no realy i need some help hear i think .....

i have had meny bikes in my 17 years of riding on the road my friend . had every sports bike u could think of over the years . i am not hear to listen to small talk mate . i just want some help with my bike thats all . and as for a real bike i got one . nothing wronge with the ccm everyone to there own . and i never bought the bike to burn it . any way its not what u got its how u ride it . and the ccm will nail anything on the backroads thats for sure .... anytime u fancy going out for a blast on the b roads give me a shout . then we will see who has a real bike nothing has passed me yet on it onthe b roads

sorry mate just a bit wound up with the bike thats all nothing ment ok . i have been out all morning in the garage the bike is starting but the battery leads heat up i have wired the ignition up wronge i have the lights working but still not sure about things as i ave 4 wires hanging from the ignition i cant find where to put them . any help would be good

Go to the shop where you bought the bike , take a pencil and a bit of paper.
Look at the same model of bike , specifically at the ignition housing.
Write / sketch down the sequence of wires , what colour goes to what pin , if you can't see exactly how it's wired , speak to the shop and explain what has happened , I'm sure they will help you out.
Go home , wire your ignition in the same order as the bike in the shop.
Sorted.

Scotty, seems to me that you got some of it wired right and some mixed up (particularly the starter switch). Don't keep trying it as you'll knacker another battery.
I'm away just now but back after the weekend. If you don't sort it by then, I'll have a look, but no promises. I'm not a sparkie, but I've got a multimeter and a bit of experience. PM me and let me know.

I just thought , is CCM the company that Foggy's Mrs was a director of that went tits up ?
why do ppl say things they no nothing about
by the way ccm r still up and running . i called them today . that was them on the phone just now sorted the guy from ccm gave me all the colours and numbers to where to put the wires back into the ignition . so all sorted just away to go and hook them up . any way lets see if u can call honda of who ever makes your bike direct and get a call back from them the same day ... i think not

Thats good news that they sorted you out though , you can get back to whupping sports bikes on back roads now , my choice would be Braemar to Spittal of Glenshee , mine will be the r e d bike in the car park , I'll be indoors , probably on my second coffee by the time you get there

They sell petrol too as you'll probably need to fill up as it's more than 50 miles from Aberdeen :I can't believe it's not butter!

I've suggested a B road that gives you both a chance as there's both fast and slow bits. Choosing the A93 was unfair. You can just about do all of that bit at a speed of the CCM won't even reach.

I reckon I can do at least 60% of the road from Strachan to the top of the cairn at a speed that the Motard won't get to either , I only need to do the other 40% at a speed equal to or slightly faster than Scotty and he's toast , where's my coffee ? :I can't believe it's not butter!
